Ben Anderson, aged 6, from Bishopston in Bristol has become our youngest Happiness Champion by winning a national short story competition on the theme ‘Feeling Happy’. His entry to the E-ACT competition was called ‘Peacock Mantis Shrimp Went for a Walk’, and was brim full happiness wisdom inspired by his mum’s enthusiasm for Happy City’s wellbeing training.
His mum, Vashti Waite, is a fantastic advocate for happiness skills, having both trained with and worked for Happy City. Vashti enjoyed the Happiness Habits course she attended in 2014 so much she became the first person to book a refresher the following year. She also volunteered her creative wizardry to produce a brilliant ‘World of Happiness’ zone at the Harbour Festival in 2015 which heavily underlined the value of a focus on happiness for wellbeing.
Ben’s story was definitely influenced by his time as a Happy City volunteer (head of colouring in and games) at the Harbour Festival, and by the ideas from the Happiness Habits course that Vashti has shared with him since then. You can see his story here.
Congratulations Ben (and Vashti).
