We welcomed Nerissa Schuit (Ness) as an official CTP team member in January, though she has been working with us as an associate for the past year. Using her expertise in data handling, analysis and visualisation, Ness provides data support for the Thriving Places Index. She holds an MRes and BSc in Chemistry, bringing a strong analytical background to her work in data-driven insights.
I am thrilled to have joined the team at CTP as a Researcher and Data Analyst, as maternity cover. Having had the pleasure of working with CTP as an associate in the past, I’m excited to contribute more regularly.
My background is in chemistry and engineering, and my career has taken me through roles at an ed-tech (educational technology) start-up, as well as data analyst positions at an IT consultancy, a risk modelling organisation and a medical research organisation. My transition into data analytics was a natural progression, thanks to the skills I developed during my academic studies and the flexibility of my role at the start-up.
‘At CTP I’m exploring ways to use new technology and tools to strengthen our research and data methodology and delivery.’
I’ve been fortunate to follow a career path that continues to engage my scientific brain, allowing me to dive into research, data management and analysis. I love to develop tools and systems that streamline processes while working with companies that make a real-world difference. I’m excited to continue doing just that here at CTP where I’m exploring ways to use new technology and tools to strengthen our research and data methodology and delivery.
Outside of work, I’ve been practising yoga for over a decade and began teaching last autumn, which has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Yoga has taught me focus, balance, and resilience – qualities I bring into my professional life. I also love to go hiking or curl up with a good book. Both are great ways for me to recharge.
I’m delighted to be part of the CTP team and can’t wait to collaborate on projects that make a meaningful impact. I’d also love to swap book recommendations!
