We want to know which books have inspired or provoked your thinking about happiness the most. Based on the ideas you send our way, we’ll come up with the top 10 books of all time* at an event in May.
We’re not just interested in self-help and psychology – we want to hear about all kinds of writing that clarify our thinking on happiness. Send us your top picks from the worlds of fiction, science, history, nature or biographies. Maybe there’s some poetry, or a book for teenagers that sticks with you always?
To enter your choice, write to mike@happycity.org.uk with the title, the author and a brief note about why it’s the one for you.
To make it all a bit more interesting, we’ve challenged the staff at Waterstones in Broadmead to come up with their top choices too. We’ll match their list up with ours, and on May 10th, we’ll gather at Waterstones for the great showdown. Mike Zeidler will host the evening from 6:30pm, where people chosen for their wit and wisdom will help the audience decide which books should be essential reading, and which ones should get sent back to the shelves….
If you’ve got the gift of the gab and fancy being on ‘stage’ as a champion for one of the books at the event itself write to mike@happycity.org.uk pronto!
We’ll update ‘the people’s choices’ on our Facebook Page as we go, so keep your eyes peeled to see how your suggestion is doing.
*until the next time
