At Happy City we dream big. We want to help shift the way society thinks. This is no small task and it’s certainly not a vision that is easy to neatly sum up. If only we had the eloquence of Robert Kennedy! Happy City exists to start conversations on what really matters and to challenge the accepted method of defining progress only by measuring economic growth. It is bittersweet for us to remember then, that Robert Kennedy on March 18, 1968, made the case for change with such clarity. This is bittersweet because his stirring speech, which we have embedded below, feels just as relevant today as it was 49 years ago.
We want to ask the same question Bobby Kennedy did. We want to encourage and inspire you to ask it too. But we don’t just want to ask, we want to find ways to help people find answers. That’s why we are actively developing and sharing tools to enable us to measure Happiness and Wellbeing on an individual, organisational and societal level. It’s why we work with many partner organisations to find ways to engage diverse communities in a range of wellness projects and why we offer training to those who wish to use these tools in their own communities across the UK and internationally.
In short, we are working hard to make this important speech less relevant on its 50th anniversary next year. If you would like to help us make that happen, please do! Get in touch here and let’s discuss how.
