Frome town in Somerset is researching ideas to help them, and towns and cities like them all over the world, to realise a better future with wellbeing at the core.
Della Duncan and Robert Raymond run Upstream – a podcast show about economics telling stories of how we live and relate to each other. Della, a broadcast journalist with a Masters in Economics for Transition, found herself drawn to Frome’s ambition to move from business as usual towards a new paradigm. She and Robert recorded a three part series of discussions with innovators who are pushing at the boundaries of convention.
Liz Zeidler, director of Happy City, features in the final part, where the focus is on the reasons why GDP and economic growth are flawed measures of wellbeing. You can listen to Liz’s interview here. The other interviewees include Ha Vinh Tho, Martin Whitlock and Inez Aponte.
Della and Robert hope the interviews have helped reveal the secrets of happiness and wellbeing hidden right beneath our noses.
Upstream is an excellent resource, with 21 conversations on offer at today’s date. We highly commend her efforts and recommend you have a listen. Tell us what you think.
